From the Talken word for white, 'Ri,' and the word for forest, ‘Salo.’
-- Phoenix 1:2 Risalo
At the base of the pantheons, where trees are plentiful, there is a few acres of pines that experience unseasonable snowfall year around. Even in the heat of summer the trees remain dappled with a dusting of powdery snow. At the heights of winter the trees become almost impassable, as snow mounds high enough to bury a fully grown human.
History
Of the many civilizations that came and went through the Pantheons over the course of civilizations, the first record of this snow dappled place came from an account by a nameless surveyor of the Talkan Empire. They called it the White Forest, or Ri Salo (romanized for your convenience) As people came and went from the area, the name stuck, though it's meaning was lost. Soon known as the Risalo forest, it is a beloved patch of land that is full of rumors and stories. Tours will walk through it in the daylight hours, though few stay overnight, due to the dangerous fey creatures that inhabit the frozen trees.
