Table of ContentsBackstoryThis is not a story about the Isakov family, but to begin, we have to make note of their history. We need to remember their rule over the province of Perskena, when the wealthy became as kings, when they ascended to their mansion and plated it with gold just so they wouldn't regret their rule. We need to remember the magic they wielded, enough to drown them in opulence and debauchery as the town around them rotted. We need to remember the day the people rose up, stormed the realm where no commoner was never meant to touch, and choked the tyrants in their own blood.
Remember these crimes, as we learn about the youngest Isakov, smuggled away by her aunt days before the revolt.
Snezhana never knew her family, save for the ramblings of the woman who raised her. She didn't know much of anything - the two lived alone, in a cabin miles from the city they once ruled. |
