Backstory


Kuro, by and large lived a normal life in Wyoming until he was a teenager, where during a sleepover with some friends, he was dared to break as many rules on the Ouija board as he could. Borrowing the one his friend had, he did. It went well at first, nothing seemed to be happening outside of the weirdness you'd expect from playing with one of those boards...

 

But then it all went wrong.

 

One ghost noticed that the teen had not followed any of the rules when talking to the dead through the board, which was sort of contract between mortals and ghosts in exchange for banning possession…once they noticed that, they felt that all bets were off, and tried taking Kuro's body. Then, another ghost noticed and tried the same thing, then another, then another...

 

Kuro doesn't remember anything that happened after this. All he remembers is blacking out, and then waking up on the floor, his skin as pale as a ghost's, and his eyes now being a gray...And his friends were nowhere to be seen. He searched everywhere he could, but he couldn't find them.  Oh, and he could now see ghosts. And given how he had broken literally all the rules of the Ouija board, they were aware of his crime and how he was free game to possess, which they did... rather frequently at that. He spent years trying to fight it: trying to ward of the possessions, trying to control when they happened, and trying desperately to regain control every time it happened, to no avail...

 

It was only when he reached adulthood that he realized fighting them wasn't going to help him: He would go insane if he kept going, resulting in him losing himself to the dead, and becoming nothing more than a deranged puppet. Not only that, he noticed there were some....habitual possessors, ghost that often possessed him to do whatever the hell they wanted. He then came up with an idea. He still didn't know what happened on that night, didn't have a clue where his friends had gone...

Maybe the dead knew best.

 

So, he began speaking with them, rather than fight them. One thing led to another, and soon he was working out deals with the dead, usually in exchange for info and leads. Most of the dead did want people dead, but not just for Kuro to kill them: No these ghosts wanted to experience the thrill of the kill themselves, so they often provided Kuro with who to look for and where to go, but would not ever kill them himself: That was for the ghosts and the ghosts only to enjoy. But after the murder, he'd get his info in the form of something written in his logbook. This led him to become essentially a hitman for the dead, getting close to targets with a friendly personality before suddenly switching and killing the person, before covering up the murder using whatever worked best and his charming surface personality.

Personality


Kuro is a fairly simple individual: He's charming, he's upbeat, he's quick witted. And he's a gun for hire. Meaning he is indifferent to violence, and will engage in it if he needs to. Although, you shouldn't have to worry about him targeting you: Unless some spirit wants you dead, he won't attack unless you attack first. He's not easily set off, but he takes a long while to cool off if he gets pissed off.

Abilities


✦ Psychic Senses

An ability set Kuro gained as a result of his meddling with ghosts. He is thoroughly in tune with the spiritual world, Capable of perceiving it and the real world at the same time. Said abilities go as follows

  • Clairvoyance: The ability to see things that exist only in the spiritual world, like people, animals, or objects
  • Clairaudience: The ability to hear things the voices and thoughts of spirits
  • Clairsentience: The ability to sense what a spirit wishes to communicate, or feel a spirit's touch
  • Claircognizance: The Ability to know something via supernatural means. Often calls it a sixth sense.

Tying back to his psychic senses, Kuro can not just interact with ghosts like average people, but he can allow said ghosts to communicate or interact with the real world, using his own body as a vessel. 

Skills & Stats


Kuro's Fighting style is rather straightforward: Take down the threat as quickly and with as few shots as possible. As such, he's gotten proficient in the art of sharpshooting, as well as utilizing whatever is available to subdue his adversary: Guns are nice and all, but they are limited by the number of bullets you carry.

  • Ammo - A Gun requires ammo, else it is just a fancy metal brick
  • Lasso Rope - Normally used for tying things down, as well as a non-lethal takedown. [and lethal, in some circumstances]

Imperative Weaknesses

Kuro is, by all accounts, just a guy with a gun and lasso rope. Sure he can see and interact with ghosts [as well as be possessed by them], but none of these provide any special defenses or buffs to Kuro.

    • In a similar vein, you are allowed to Kill Kuro: Just try to avoid fridging him/doing it just for shock value.
